Swim with wild dolphins

Experience Kangaroo Island

Ecotourism Accredited

Went on the Dolphin swim and it was absolutely awesome. Andrew took us on the tour and stopped at a few locations where we were lucky enough to spot a rare sea bird and then when we got to the dolphin sanctuary were straight in the water. Swimming right next to truly Wild Dolphins is just such a truly amazing experience.

  • Tour inclusions
The Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures team want to make your day with us as easy and enjoyable as possible. Our 3 Hour Island Explorer Tour include a delicious choice of home baked cakes or biscuits, tea and coffee. So unless you have specific dietary requirements, you should not need to bring food and drink with you (but you are more than welcome to!). When you board the boat, you will be briefed on safety protocol, and shown how to wear a lifejacket. Life jackets are not mandatory to wear, however if you feel you want to wear one please let your Skipper know. We also have children's jackets as well. For people choosing to swim with the dolphins on a tour, we provide sterile snorkels and masks to make your swim really fun. If you feel the water is a bit cool, we also have wet suits available in your size (included in your tour price). Please Note: if you do have your own equipment, we are quite happy for you to bring it with you. You are more than welcome to bring your cameras and video equipment along, but please note that we are on the water, so any accidents during the tour are at your own risk. Our vessel is a 'dry-vessel' meaning no water will enter in normal travel, so your gear is safe on board. Having said this, our tour guides are delighted to help you out with snapping some fun photos of your, your family and friends (as we are all keen photographers as well). Please do not hesitate to ask!
  • Tour departure locations
Kangaroo Island Marine Adventures has two regular tour departure points that we use, depending on the particular tour you have chosen or the weather. Both are quite close to each other though. Please note however that we have much flexibility to launch our boat from other lovely locations around the Island also. Please contact us the day before your tour to confirm the departure location and time, we work with the weather conditions to give you the best possible experience and they can sometimes change quite quickly. Please do check with us that your scheduled departure point has not changed. Kingscote Departure Point You will find the KIMA Boat at the Kingscote, Bay of Shoals Boat Ramp. The easiest way to find the ramp is to travel along Cordes Road out of the centre of Kingscote. About 100 metres along Gov Wallen Drive, on your left, you will find the dirt road entrance to the Boat Ramp car park. There is plenty of parking and a short walk to the Boat Ramp to find our boat. NOTE: If you are using a GPS, please do not enter 'Bay of Shoals' as your destination, as it will take you to the wrong location Emu Bay Departure Point You will find the KIMA Boat ready to board at the Emu Bay Jetty. The Jetty is located on Hamilton Drive (which faces the ocean), between Hall and Buick Streets. There is plenty of car parking available to the left of the Jetty. Just follow the signs to Emu Bay
  • Accessibility
We make every effort to make our tours accessible to everyone. We have two steps from the wharf to the boat, and another step down to the seating area. Our seats are like a director's chair; with strong, comfortable, fabric for the backing and the seat and shared arm rests on a metal frame base. We have a ladder of steps at the back of the boat with a rope for ease of disembarking into the water for our dolphin swims, and getting out of the water when you have finished your swim. We have life jackets for safety, and you are welcome to wear them during your swim if you are not a confident swimmer or just to make you feel more comfortable.
